Our Solution

In each country where we operate, we begin by partnering with a local ministry partner that is committed to that region. We look for opportunities where we can fund and connect donors to sustainable water projects and long-term ministry. We then work with our partners to help them implement the following solutions:

1) Repair Broken Pumps

Tens of thousands of broken hand pumps are scattered throughout Africa with more breaking daily. By repairing and replacing parts on these good water sources, we can quickly and cost effectively restore clean water to communities. We take responsibility for each refurbished well and partner with the local community to help them maintain it as a sustainable water source.

2) Drill New Water Wells

Communities where we work that have no clean water and have no borehole are placed in line for a new well. Our strategy is that all the villages in the regions where we work will have a fully functioning hand pump for clean water.

3) Sanitation and Hygiene Training

Clean water is just one piece of the puzzle in eradicating water borne diseases. Simple things like cleaning your jerrycan (container for carrying water) and washing your hands make huge improvements. Without this training, the benefits of clean water can easily be compromised before children drink water from a new or refurbished well. In addition, instruction and encouragement to build simple latrines helps stop the spread of disease and dramatically improves living conditions. Consider these statistics:

2.6 billion people in the world do not have access to adequate sanitation.
This is almost two fifths of the world's population. (WHO/UNICEF)

Hand-washing with soap at critical times can reduce the incidence of diarrhea by up to 47%. (UN Water)

The integrated approach of providing water, sanitation and hygiene reduces the number of deaths caused by diarrheal diseases by an average of 65%. (WHO)

4) Chronological Bible Teaching

Repairing a broken well and teaching about good hygiene often leads to a sharing of our faith in Jesus and the source behind our ministry. We use this opportunity to partner with local churches or missionaries to teach bible studies by the well. Our hope is that as we teach and build up mature African believers, they will help spread our ministry of clean water and the living water of Jesus.

We use Chronological Bible Teaching which starts "in the beginning" and teaches about God as He has revealed Himself through scripture. This is a powerful method that helps to combat combining the true Gospel with other traditional beliefs or false teaching. By investing time in training local church leaders, we help them to better meet the unique spiritual and physical needs of their villages.
